In nearly every corner of the internet, because due to Covid-19 that's where we live now, you see men angry about something. OVERLY angry. They're mad about having to disrupt their lives due to an ever-present threat. They're angry they're being told what to do. They're angry they can't go where they want, when they want, however they want.
Seriously, are you even kidding me? First, this is a fucking pandemic, not a personal affront. Get over yourselves. Second, women are held back so egregiously that wearing a mask is like, "Well, at least now men won't tell me to smile."
Schools are reopening this fall, and we're being told that they cannot enforce the children to wear masks. OH REALLY? You could enforce a hundred different rules about girls' clothing. Most women I know have stories about getting sent home because their clothing was "distracting" to the boys. If we showed too much shoulder or leg, then we had to go home. Yet the boys could literally have a ball hanging out (I'm not kidding). Girls' education has always been secondary. And now we know that apparently boys being "distracted" is worse than children dying because not only are schools opening but likely without masks.
The adult children are choosing to fight the mask mandates. Some of them are making forged medical cards, claiming that they cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. Of course this is ridiculous for a lot of reasons, but starting with if you have a medical reason to not wear a mask you should not be out buying hot dog buns in public. Subverting laws meant to help people with actual disabilities is appalling.
Then there are the degenerates who decided they will follow the letter of the law, but not the intent. So they'll wear their masks with their noses hanging out. Or they'll take them off after they enter a public place. They'll wear them on the back of their head or around their necks. Screw the pandemic, they need everyone to know how rebellious they are.
I've been wearing a mask in public for months. Being female who usually travels with a male I've noticed that I still get treated differently. People without masks will charge at me in stores, like they're trying to play chicken with me. As if it were some kind of game, "Run Snowflake, Run!" At first I was pretty confused, I mean people usually peel out of my way when I walk. But with the mask on, I am not nearly as intimidating. (I have resting "I will fuck you up" face). I used to have a powerful walk, now I have a limp. So I'm female and visibly disabled, so I'm seen as an easy target. It's been difficult to keep quiet when this happens (I also have "I will fuck you up" personality), but the first few altercations have already taught me that it's not worth the fight.
These men, and it's almost always men, have falsely felt persecuted their whole lives. And now they get to play it out. They have a lot of energy for their first outing.
I'm angry. But I'm so tired.
