Coronavirus: Washing Hands and Not Touching Faces

Well, fuck. Various experts are predicting shit is going to hit the fan in select areas of the United States in the next 10 days. The rest is soon to follow. 40-70% of the world's population is expected to catch the fuck out of this virus. A lot of people are going to die. But also a lot of survivors are going to end up with permanent lung damage and other health problems. If you're reading this far, I'm hoping you're not one of the gleefully ignorant bastards proclaiming that anyone who worries about this virus is an idiot. Not just because I hope there aren't that many stupid people out there, but because I'm not donating my time for those jackasses. They need an entirely different kind of help- and that help is paid.

Coronavirus: Here Goes Slightly More Than Nothing

A few weeks ago, I considered writing a few posts about the Coronavirus, or COVID-19. I have specific skills in this area, and have unique insights that I've not seen elsewhere. I didn't for a few reasons:
  • I'm still recovering from my brain and eye damage, so typing anything is difficult. Moreso anything scientific.
  • The above fact is severely depressing, due to my former life as a highly-technical science beast.
  • Who would listen to me anyway? Only a few of my friends and former coworkers know of my qualifications (e.g. Master of Science; 20+ years of experience, training and experience in many relevant areas in security including but not exclusive to: risk treatment and pandemics; and I even used to clean hospices in order to protect AIDS patients from other illnesses) and even they are not immune to the "my opinion is more important than fact" disease.
  • I'm not willing to identify myself by name on this page. After all, I am a woman on the internet and this is not my first rodeo. However I shut down my professional security blog last year because my recovering brain could not handle the upkeep. This is my art and hobby page, for fuck's sake!

Do you want Coronavirus? This is how you get Coronavirus.

I've been knocked flat by Influenza for the last few weeks. Yes, I got a flu shot- I get one every year. However the flu shot only contains the educated guess of what flu strains will hit in a season. Unfortunately, they either guessed wrong or the flu mutated, because a lot of people in my area seemed to have gotten the flu. Not just a lot of my friends, but when I was at Urgent Care the doctor said the flu shot wasn't as effective this year. A lot of people who had gotten the shot were coming in with the flu. I'm going to believe the experts. (Just in case you're wondering if they are actually Coronavirus patients because the US has been slow in getting people tested for it, smack yourself in the back of the head. The flu has an easy - and especially painful if you are sick - nasal swab test. They know it isn't Coronavirus because they know it's the flu).

Kick in the Pants

I've not been seen or heard from in some time. My neighbor worried I had died. I figured I should put a note up here that I am still kickin' it and have not kicked it. I have been very sick the last few weeks and have not left my bedroom often- but I am getting better. My return to the real world is full of ick, exhaustion and confusion.

On the plus side, it is almost nice to have a regular run-of-the-mill illness for once. Nothing exotic, just some gnarly cold/flu ridiculousness. Though who knows maybe it is the plague and my overactive immune system brought it down.

Perhaps the most annoying is that this illness is putting increased stress on my bad eye, brain and back. So I've been wearing the eye patch a lot. Who has two thumbs (for now) and turns into a crippled pirate with dementia when they are sick? This chick.

So I'm still here, but please give me some time to recover. And then catch up all the responsibilities I've been flat-out ignoring.

Darth Painter

I have breathing issues, mostly stemming from allergies. So in the spring and summer I am pretty much a wheezing, dripping monster.

Despite being a badass, being sick and injured all the time gets at bit... irksome. In the summer of 2018 I was not only suffering from allergies but some nasty cold that someone was kind enough to share. My breathing sounded like... well do you really need to guess?

Sick(ly) Art

When I'm sick or otherwise stuck in bed, I sometimes find it helpful to vent through art.

My partner bought me a whole slew of markers. The idea is that if I am practically buried in art supplies, maybe I will be guilted into creating. It's not a bad idea. If all else fails, use psychological warfare.
